Jennifer J. Riel’s practice includes intellectual property, business law, real estate, estate planning, and related litigation. Jennifer is licensed in California, Nevada, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. As a litigator, Jennifer has handled matters involving real estate disputes, partition of real property actions, intellectual property infringement, business disputes, breach of contract, debt collection, and professional negligence. Before starting Riel Law, Jennifer worked at a large international law firm where she gained experience in intellectual property procurement and litigation. Thereafter, she worked at a large national law firm litigating cases involving real estate and business disputes.
As an attorney admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Jennifer has prepared and prosecuted United States patent applications relating to a variety of fields of art including mechanical apparatuses, laser processing systems, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, casino gaming, athletic goods, footwear, party supplies, storage devices, and locking apparatuses. Jennifer has also prepared and prosecuted numerous United States trademark applications. Additionally, she has analyzed various intellectual property for purposes of acquisition, licensing, evaluating patentability, examining infringement, and rendering product clearance assessments.
Jennifer’s experience includes drafting, analyzing, and negotiating contracts such as commercial leases, intellectual property licenses, covenants not to sue, purchase and distribution agreements, and supply agreements. Jennifer also has experience in various aspects of litigation involving intellectual property infringement, breach of contract claims, and real estate disputes for which she drafted a variety of pleadings and motions for state and federal courts, drafted mediation briefs, and participated in mediations and settlement conferences. In addition to representing clients in connection with real estate transactions and disputes, Jennifer has practical experience in real estate purchase and sale transactions as a former Nevada real estate broker-salesperson licensee.
